In view of the world day of poverty, in calendario il 17 ottobre, e dell'avvio della 45ª Settimana sociale dei cattolici italiani, in programma dal 18 al 21 ottobre, Caritas Italiana e Fondazione Zancan di Padova hanno presentato oggi a Roma il VII Rapporto sulla povertà e l'esclusione sociale in Italia, dal titolo “Rassegnarsi alla povertà?”, che sarà nelle librerie nei prossimi giorni.

L'ultimo Rapporto dell'Istat sulla povertà nel nostro Paese indica che sono in stato di povertà 2.623.000 famiglie, corrispondenti a 7.537.000 persone, cioè il 12,9% della popolazione, di cui i due terzi vivono al Sud. Un dato che è rimasto “sostanzialmente stabile” negli ultimi cinque anni.
