E i media italiani ne escono in maniera vergognosa.
La storia, nella sua crudezza, è semplice. Il giorno 20 novembre in broad daylight in the city of Rome, the Romanian national Marinela Martiniuc, 28, on the zebra crossing near a school. Pushing a wheelchair with his son Elias just four months and held the hand of his niece, Adina 12 years.
were swept away by a car driven by an Italian citizen, in a state of intoxication, and just out of jail. The baby was thrown 20 meters away, the little Adina had multiple injuries to his legs. Mrs. Martiniuc was unconscious for 24 hours and life threatening. Is still hospitalized in critical condition.
No newspaper or g or tg has decided to spread the word. This was released today, five days later, only a letter from Anna Maffei, president of the Italian Evangelical Christian Baptist, published by the newspaper Il Manifesto.
Maffei invites a reflection on the role of media in the construction of the climate of insecurity and the growing intolerance and xenophobia among ordinary people. He is right: the mainstream media now make up a compact party of the injury and use their immense power to spread it on purpose. For an elementary rule journalistic fact, if only the Romanians and Romanians (or Roma for the average journalist is the same) are all rapists, murderers, thieves, drunk drivers, another dog bites man should not be news. But if the man is Italian (not affected drunk) Romanian to bite the dog, this should not be a story of its most stereotypical opposite? It should not cause a scandal and a shame that our compatriot has reduced dying a foreign woman and two children?
would be a sad paradox, of course, if the only reason the media did a good service information. Maffei hits the point perfectly. Today the mainstream media, manipulating and selecting the news with intent, representing a generator of social insecurity, intolerance and xenophobia. And Italian newspapers that scream the investment (or rape, or murder) of an Italian citizen by a foreign citizen, but hide the opposite case and diminish systematically the crimes for which aliens are victims, should be defined by what they are: racist. For purposes
ugly (political or commercial that is) you are paying to endanger the life of society in this country and are playing with our democracy. It 's time that those who care about civil society in this country routinely ask their account of their intentions and bad guys. Another journalism is possible.
